Abstract Requirements
The abstract begins with the heading ABSTRACT (Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold, centered), followed by one blank line
The main body of the abstract uses 9 pt font, regular style, with a first-line indent of 0.75 cm. Text should be justified. Use of numbers, abbreviations, formulas, tables, or references is not allowed
The abstract must be:
- Informative — clearly presenting the aim and results;
- Content-rich — summarizing the core contributions;
- Structured — following the logical flow of the article
Recommended structure of the abstract:
- Relevance of the research
- Aim and objectives
- Methods used
- Results
- Conclusions (highlighting novelty and practical value)
The abstract should not repeat the article title or directly copy parts of the main text. Avoid generic statements and unnecessary generalizations
Recommended length: 300-350 words, minimum 2000 characters with spaces.
Keywords Requirements
Keywords are placed immediately after the abstract. Formatting:
- Begin the line with Keywords: (9 pt, bold, first-line indent 0.75 cm, justified)
- Follow with the list of keywords on the same line (9 pt, regular)
Guidelines:
- Use up to 6 terms
- Each term or phrase should not exceed two words
- Use nominative case
- No abbreviations
- Separate with semicolons (;), no period at the end
Note: To enhance discoverability and citation potential, avoid single-word general terms.
Citation Text Requirements
The citation text appears after one blank line following the keywords block. Formatting:
- Font size 8 pt, bold, justified, no first-line indent
- Begin with For citation: (italicized), followed by the full citation string
Format:
For citation: Ivanov A. A., Petrenko I. I. “Title of the article” // Herald of Advanced Information Technology. – Year. – Volume. – Issue. – Pages. DOI:
The final citation text is generated by the editorial board after acceptance for publication
Article Text Requirements
The manuscript must be written in clear, correct English (preferably British or American consistency), free from grammar, spelling, or stylistic errors. The content must be aligned with the scope of the journal and meet the standards of a peer-reviewed scientific publication
Structure and Formatting
- The main text must be organized into clearly defined sections such as INTRODUCTION, LITERATURE REVIEW, METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION, CONCLUSIONS, etc.
- Section headings must be written in capital letters, bold, 11 pt, center-aligned, with 6 pt spacing before and after
- The body text must begin with a new paragraph, 0.75 cm first-line indent, justified alignment, and arranged in two columns
Copyright Footer on First Page
At the bottom of the left column of the first page, a copyright footer must be added:
- Begin with a horizontal line (1 pt thickness, paragraph border style)
- Below the line: © (10 pt, bold), followed by authors' surnames and initials, then the year of publication, separated by commas (10 pt, regular)
Language and Usage Conventions
- Abbreviations and symbols (except widely accepted ones) must be used sparingly, and their full form must be provided at first use
- The last page of the article must be at least 75% filled; articles with mostly blank final pages will not be accepted
- Authors must avoid large blank areas in the body of the article, especially before or after large figures. Figures and text must be arranged to ensure continuous text flow
Punctuation and Numbering Standards
- Do not use a period after the article title, section headings, table titles, or units of measurement
- For ordinal indices in variables, use the "-th" notation (e.g., i-th)
- For abbreviations of multi-word phrases, separate components with spaces, not hyphens
Units, Numbers, and Math Formatting
- All units must comply with the International System of Units (SI)
- Numbers below 11 should be written in words, except when:
- Used with units (e.g., 5 cm, 3.5 m/s²)
- Used in mathematical context, or.
- When combined with larger numerals in the same sentence
- Decimals must use a period as a separator (e.g., 0.125). Always include a leading zero before a decimal fraction (e.g., 0.35, not .35)
- Sentences should preferably not begin with a numeral
- Use ellipsis (...) in mathematical expressions to indicate continuation
Lists and Enumeration
- Lists must contain at least two elements
- Use:
- Numbers in parentheses (1) or with dots 1. for numbered lists
- Hyphens – for unnumbered lists
Formula Formatting Guidelines
Formulas must be typeset using a uniform font size that ensures all elements are clearly legible. Authors are required to use MathType or a compatible equation editor that supports full editing functionality
Each formula should be centered within the column with no paragraph indentation. If a formula is referenced in the text, it must be numbered. The number should be right-aligned and enclosed in parentheses, e.g., (1). Formulas not referenced in the text should not be numbered
As formulas are part of the sentence structure, they must be followed by an appropriate punctuation mark – a period, comma, or other – depending on the context
Recommended formatting settings:
- Main symbols: 11 pt;
- Superscripts: 8 pt;
- Subscripts: 6 pt;
- Large symbols: 14 pt;
- Small symbols: 10 pt.
Notation rules:
- Latin variable names – italicized;
- Greek symbols – not italicized;
- Operators and standard functions (min, max, sin, cos, tg, ctg, etc.) – not italicized;
- The use of Cyrillic characters in formulas is not permitted
Lengthy equations may be broken into multiple lines, provided mathematical integrity and visual symmetry are preserved
Simple equations and individual mathematical symbols may be inserted inline in the body text without using an equation editor, if appropriate
Before submission, authors must ensure that all formulas are editable Submissions containing formulas as images or in non-editable formats will not be accepted
Figure Formatting Requirements
Figures must be centered within the text column. No paragraph indentation is applied. If a figure fits within the column width, it should be placed inline with surrounding text (text wrapping above and below). Large figures should be placed at the top or bottom of the page as a single-column element
Figure caption formatting:
- Font: 11 pt, centered, no indentation;
- Format: “Fig.” (regular italic font) + figure number + period + figure title starting with a capital letter (bold font)
Example: Fig. 2. Results of system modeling
On the next line below the caption, indicate the source of the figure:
- Font: 8 pt, italic, bold, centered;
- Format: Source: + URL (e.g., https://...) or compiled by the authors, or a reference citation (e.g., [27]).
Placement and referencing:
- Place figures immediately after first mention in the text or on the next page;
- Every figure must be cited in the manuscript;
- In-text references use a space after “Fig.” (e.g., Fig. 3), but no space in compound references (e.g., Fig. 3c).
Additional requirements:
- Figures, formulas, and tables must follow a single-level sequential numbering;
- Labels within figures should use Times New Roman 11 pt, with no bold or italics;
- All figure labels must be uniform in style;
- Image format: JPG, with no pixelation when enlarged (high resolution required);
- Color figures are acceptable, as the journal is published both online and in print;
- If a figure contains a graph or relationship, all symbols and axis labels must be explained in the caption;
- For compound figures with multiple parts, label them as (a, b, c, ...) without parentheses, and provide descriptions for each part in the figure caption;
- Maximum figure width: 17 cm (full page) or 8 cm (column width);
- Captions and part labels must not be embedded in the image — they must be provided as editable text in the manuscript
Table Formatting Requirements
Tables should be centered on the page with no paragraph indentation. If the table fits within the column width, it should be placed within the text column with text wrapping above and below. Large tables should appear at the top or bottom of the page as a full-width single-column block
Table title formatting:
- Font: 11 pt, centered, no indentation;
- Format: “Table” (italic) + table number + period + title capitalized (bold).
Example: Table 3. Summary of experimental results
Below the table, on a new line, the source is indicated:
- Font: 8 pt, bold italic, centered;
- Format: Source: + https://... or [27], or compiled by the authors.
Additional requirements:
- Tables should be placed immediately after their first mention in the text or on the next page;
- All tables must be referenced in the article text (e.g., Table 2);
- Figures, formulas, and tables must follow a single-level sequential numbering;
- Table text must use Times New Roman 11 pt, consistent across all tables;
- Tables must be created using MS Word’s built-in table tools;
- Units of measurement must appear in the column headers, not repeated in rows;
- No empty header cells are allowed;
- Tables must be vertically oriented;
- If a table spans multiple pages, do not repeat the caption;
- Tables with graphics or arrows (e.g., in flowcharts) may need to be submitted as figures instead
In-Text Citation Requirements
In-text citation formatting must follow the IEEE Citation Style (see the IEEE Reference Guide: https://ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/wp-content/uploads/IEEE-Reference-Guide.pdf).
Key rules:
- References are enclosed in square brackets: [1], [2], [3], etc.
- Sources are numbered in the order of their first mention in the text.
- When citing multiple sources, each number appears separately within the same set of brackets: [2], [4], [7].
- Reference ranges are not used; consecutive citations are listed individually.
- References are placed on the line, before punctuation when applicable.
- Every source listed in the “References” section must be cited in the text.
Conclusion Requirements
The Conclusions section must:
- Be directly aligned with the study’s objectives and tasks;
- Be concise and persuasive, summarizing the main results;
- Highlight the scientific novelty and practical relevance of the work;
- Optionally include prospects for future research.
Conclusions should not merely repeat prior content and must avoid vague generalizations.
Formatting the Reference List
The references must follow the IEEE Citation Style
Key requirements:
- Title: REFERENCES (11 pt, bold, centered, no indent)
- Each entry: 11 pt font, 0.75 cm indent, justified, single column
- References are numbered according to the order of first citation in the text. Use square brackets: [1], [2], etc.
- All entries must be in English. If the original is in another language, the title should be translated (not transliterated), and language noted at the end: (in Ukrainian)
